Republic Day is celebrated on 26 January every year. It is called the national festival of India and all the citizens of India celebrate this festival with full zeal, enthusiasm, and respect. * On 26 January 1950, Dr. Rajendra Prasad was sworn in as the first President of India in the Durbar Hall of Government House.

* At the time of the first Republic Day, the President of India was greeted with a 31-gun salute.
