Mumbai: Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope said in a statement last Thursday that the state will be hit by the third wave of coronavirus by the end of October or the first week of November, and at least 6million people will be infected with covid-19. In fact, Rajesh Tope made this statement while talking to reporters after the state cabinet meeting. At the same time, he also said that "at least 13 lakh will need oxygen support.''

At the same time, he also said, "We have increased our oxygen capacity to 2000 metric tonnes.'' In fact, in an interview to a famous website, the Health Minister also spoke at range with his Kerala counterpart as Kerala is battling a record infection after the Onam festival. With the arrival of Ganesh Chaturthi, Navratri, Dussehra, and Diwali, there are similar apprehensions. Now, Maharashtra may also see a massive spike due to relaxation in covid restrictions.

Let me tell you that Maharashtra had relaxed the Covid-19 lockdown in April last week as cases increased sharply during the second wave. Cinema halls and religious places are still closed and malls have been allowed to be opened. At the same time, the time for shops to remain open has been extended. There was also a buzz among the festive shopkeepers in the market.

In such a situation, Rajesh Tope said that ''Vaccination will be the top priority of the state. Due to a shortage of doses, many districts including Mumbai have had to temporarily stop the vaccine campaign.'' He further said, 'We are getting about 12 crore doses per month. The Center has told us that we will get 1.7 crore doses from next month. The priority is to provide a second dose to the beneficiaries.' Apart from this, he also said that we can vaccinate more than 15 lakh people on a daily basis.
