McAfee, a prominent cybersecurity firm, has identified 14 suspicious apps that pose a significant threat to Android smartphones by stealthily introducing viruses into mobile devices. McAfee has released a list of these apps, some of which have been downloaded over a hundred thousand times, impacting millions of devices.

According to the report, these apps are installing a virus named Xamalicious on mobile devices. The impact of this virus has been observed on approximately 338,300 devices. McAfee's research team indicates that Android devices are affected in two stages. Initially, these apps exploit accessibility, leveraging social engineering for their benefit. Subsequently, they establish contact with their command and control server. It is then determined whether the second stage payload should be downloaded on the phone.
