One of the most loved films of this year, Karthikeya 2 earned more than ₹25 crore (US$3.1 million) at the worldwide box office in its opening weekend. The domestic gross collection of the film was ₹91 crore. The actor of the film Nikhil Siddhartha is right now one of the most recognised Telugu actors in the Indian cinema industry.

A few days ago it was announced that surpassing all Big Budget Bollywood and South Indian movie, a small Budget Gujarati movie Chhello Show was selected as India’s official entry to the 95th Academy Awards for the international film category. In a recent interview, Karthikeya 2 reacts on this.

Speaking about RRR not being selected as India's official entry to the Oscars, the actor said, "I have a very strong opinion on this. I just read an article that to lobby for an Oscar, earlier Studios would spend $5 million, now the going price is $15-20 million, only to lobby to get votes for your film. What is the point?"

He further added, "We have our own National Awards, we have our own Filmfare Awards, and so many awards are given by our Indian Government. The best reward and award RRR can get is the box office numbers and the public’s love. It was a fantastic film. The Kashmir Files was a fantastic film and they have already been awarded by the love that they have received." Nikhil further said, "Not every film is made for the Oscars. It's not a certificate, I don’t think we need that."
