These days the movies of the south are breaking all the records. The Telugu movie Kantara is winning hearts. The movie sees a phenomenal run at the box office. In Karnataka, the film has grossed ₹58 crores since its release and is being dubbed and released in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. Rishab Shetty's Kantara opened to a thunderous response at the Karnataka box office on September 30 much to the delight of his fans. It went on to emerge as a blockbuster.

Rishabh Shetty, who has written and directed the film is receiving appreciation from the audiences and critics. The film narrates the conflict of ignorance and its hardships in a captivating way.

Speaking about the film, Kantara, which translates to the mystical forest, tells the story of a local demigod (Bhoota) who trades forest land to the tribe's people with a king in 1870 in exchange for happiness. Many years later, when the king’s son grows greedy and wants the land back, he dies due to the wrath of Bhoota.
