1 cup yellow moong dal
1/2 cup ghee
1 cup milk
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 tsp cardamom powder
Two tablespoons chopped almonds
pinch of saffron
 
Method of making moong halwa - First clean the moong dal and soak it in water for four hours. Now take out the excess water and grind the dal in a mixer. Now add a tablespoon of warm milk and saffron and put it aside. Then add a non stick pan and heat ghee on a low flame. Then add moong dal mixture and cook on medium heat for 25 minutes. Now that the aroma of rawness is gone, understand that the dal is cooked. Now add milk and a cup of warm water and run for ten minutes. Then add sugar and cook. Now then add cardamom powder and saffron mixture mixed with milk. Now take it off the gas and serve with chopped almonds on top.
