'Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin' actor Karan Oberoi was arrested on Monday for allegedly raping and blackmailing a woman. An FIR was registered at Oshiwara Police Station in Mumbai under sections 376 (rape) and 384 (extortion) of the Indian Penal Code against Oberoi.

According to the police, the actor-model allegedly raped the woman on the pretext of marrying her. According to the report in Mumbai Mirror , Oberoi met the woman in October 2016. According to the publication, the woman wrote in her FIR: “Using the video, he blackmailed me and took money from me. However, whenever I asked him about marriage he kept ignoring it and would ask for more money. Recently, when I insisted on the marriage, he threatened me and said do whatever you want to do.”

Police said, "Oberoi not only raped the woman and filmed the act but also demanded money from the victim threatening to release the video if she did not pay up,"

Karan Oberoi is a TV actor who has featured on shows such as Saaya, Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin and, most recently, 2017 web series Inside Edge. He is also a member of pop group A Band of Boys, which was formed in the early aughts. He also appeared in advertising campaigns of FBB, Royal Enfield Riding Apparel, Aldo, Jack & Jones and Lamborghini.
