Dhaka: PM Sheikh Hasina has sharply criticised the violence that erupted during the Durga puja programme in Bangladesh. PM Sheikh Hasina has said in a warning tone that whoever is involved in the attack will not be spared. PM Sheikh Hasina said it doesn't matter which religion they were going to follow. She further said that appropriate penalties will be imposed to prevent communal riots.

Sheikh Hasina participated in the ceremony at the Dhakeshwari National Temple in Dhaka with the help of video conferencing. She said the incident in the Komilla district is under investigation. None of those who have attacked Hindu temples and Durga Puja pandals will be spared. It doesn't matter what religion these attackers had. Behind these attacks are the same people who have failed to win the trust of the public.

According to reports, violence erupted here in a Facebook post following alleged insults to the Quran, followed by the demolition of several Durga Puja pandals, following which a large number of security forces have been deployed. According to the report, a social media post related to rumours of alleged insult to the Quran at a puja pandal in Bangladesh's Komilla district went viral following which violence broke out in the region.
