Hailakandi: In connection with the torture of a youth in Assam's Hailakandi district, which was captured in a video that went viral on social media.
On Wednesday, Nabaneet Mahanta, the Hailakandi district's superintendent of police, said that three people, including the main suspect Nizamuddin Borbhuyan, had already been taken into custody.
A video of the event that has gone viral on social media depicts a young kid being tormented, having his head tonsured, having someone else urinate on him, and having both of his hands bound with rope.
The victim's youth was allegedly involved in a theft case when he broke into a home without permission in the Krishnapur neighbourhood, which is under the jurisdiction of the Lala police station in the Hailakandi district.
Assam Director General of Police GP Singh instructed the Superintendent of Police of the Hailakandi district to take prompt legal action in response to the widely circulated video from Hailakandi showing a person being tortured.
The Hailakandi police were also given quick orders by the Assam DGP to arrest every suspected person and ensure a legal investigation.
