Auckland: The New Zealand cricket team defeated India in the first ODI match today i.e. on Friday (November 25). The biggest reason for India's defeat was the brilliant innings and tremendous partnership of New Zealand's Tom Latham and captain Kane Williamson. During this inning, both batsmen have also broken some big records.
New Zealand's left-handed batsman Latham scored an unbeaten 145 off 104 balls in this match. In this inning, he hit 19 fours and five sixes. This is the highest score in ODIs by any New Zealand batsman against India. In this case, he has overtaken Nathan Astle, who scored 120 runs against India in Rajkot in 1999. In this match, Latham added 221 runs for the fourth wicket with his captain Kane Williamson. This is the highest partnership for any wicket from New Zealand in ODIs. Earlier, Latham shared a 200-run partnership with Ross Taylor against India in Mumbai in 2017.
With this, this partnership of Latham and Williamson is the highest partnership for the fourth wicket by any team against India. In this case, Latham and Williamson have broken the record of Pakistan's Mohammad Yousuf and Shoaib Malik. Both of them shared a 206-run partnership for the fourth wicket against India in 2009. This is only the second time that New Zealand has achieved a target of more than 300 in ODIs against India. Earlier, the Kiwi team had chased 348 runs in Hamilton in 2020.
