New Delhi: Toyota Innova Crysta is back in the Indian market after a brief absence, albeit only with diesel engine options. Order books for the popular MPV are currently available at Rs. 50,000.

The Innova Highcross model replaced the capable people mover, which had been retired. However, due to the demand, the Japanese automaker has brought it back.

For more than 20 years, the Innova has been one of Toyota's most attractive brand names in India. The brand managed to sell 55,250 units of the Innova Crysta model in 2021, making it the automaker's best-selling vehicle on our soil.

According to a survey conducted in March last year. The automaker has also introduced the upscale Innova Highcross as electrification becomes a priority.

The Toyota Innova Crysta features a long, muscular hood, a multi-slat grille with chrome trim, sweptback projector headlamps, a raked windscreen and a wide air dam.

It has a typical MPV silhouette. The sides of the MPV are framed by designer 16-inch alloy wheels, flared wheel arches and ORVMs with indicator mounts. Wraparound taillights, roof mounted spoiler and shark-fin antenna adorn the back.

The fuel-efficient 2.4-litre diesel engine powering the Toyota Innova Crysta can generate a maximum power of 148 horsepower and 343 Nm of peak torque. The MPV's 5-speed manual gearbox is now in charge of the transmission duties.

The interior of the Toyota Innova Crysta is spacious, seating seven or eight passengers, and features a minimalist dashboard, two-tone leatherette upholstery, a second-row seat with one-touch tumble function, a powered driver's seat, rear AC vents, and more. Also included is automatic climate control. , and a multifunctional steering wheel.

The MPV gets an 8.0-inch infotainment panel and a semi-digital instrument cluster. Passengers' safety is guaranteed by seven airbags, ABS, EBD and ESC.

Toyota will reveal the pricing and availability of the Innova Crysta in the coming weeks. We estimate the MPV to be priced around Rs. 20 lakh in India (ex-showroom). The car is now available for online or dealership reservation.
