BEIJING: 20 of the 23 workers died due to excessive levels of carbon monoxide in a coal mine in China on Saturday, according to local authorities. According to the report of Xinhua, the accident occurred at around 5 pm on Friday evening at Diaoshudong coal mine in Yongchuan district of Chongqing municipality.
It was said that 20 miners died due to excessive levels of carbon monoxide. Rescuers and police officers and fire officials are trying to reach the trapped miners.
In a statement it said, "The tragedies of 1971 cannot be forgotten. The pain will last forever", Imran Ahmad Siddiqui spoke with the Pakistani High Commissioner in Dhaka. According to the local emergency management department, the Diaoshuidong coal mine, which was established in 1975 and became privately owned in 1998, has an annual production capacity of 120,000 tonnes of coal. In March 2013, three were killed and two were injured by hydrogen sulfide poisoning in the mine, reports Xinhua.
