Dehradun: A tragic accident took place in the Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand on Friday. Here a car fell into a ditch. Three women have died and 3 persons were seriously injured in the accident. According to reports, a passenger vehicle travelling from Haldwani towards the Thal fell into a ditch near Godigad in Banspatan. Three women died on the spot while 3 others were seriously injured in the accident.

On Friday morning, as soon as the information was received about the accident of the vehicle near Godigad bridge, Berinag police station chief Pratap Singh Negi reached the spot along with the soldiers. The police team carried out the relief-rescue operation and all the injured were taken to Berinag Hospital by ambulance and other government vehicles. Where the doctors have declared Rashmi Chand wife of Brijesh Chand, Geeta Chand wife of Harish Chand resident Lejam Kouli Thal and Priyanka Chand daughter Bhagwan Chand resident Gaina Baraloo dead. While the driver Anil Kanyal resident of Thal, Chandan Singh Samant resident of Golakudi Tadigaon and Brijesh Chand resident Lejam Kouli are seriously injured. They are undergoing treatment.

In Srinagar, a car was submerged in the Alaknanda river at Maldaiya on Badrinath National Highway late on Wednesday night. The driver of the car died in the accident. Meanwhile, his cousin was rescued. He has been admitted to the hospital. At around 12.30 pm on Wednesday, a car fell about 50 metres down into the Alaknanda river at Maldaiya between Uflada and Sriyantra Island. After the car fell into the river, Akash Rathi resident Narsan Kalan, Haridwar, came out.
