Mumbai: A case has been registered under the sedition section of Urvashi Chudawala, a social activist, shouting slogans in support of the accused, Sharjeel Imam, who made inflammatory speeches. Mumbai Police sources gave this information on Tuesday where Urvashi Chudawala has filed an application for an anticipatory bail in Mumbai Sessions Court. A case has been registered against Chudawala and 50 others in this case. These people had allegedly raised slogans during a rally at Azad Maidan in support of JNU student Imam. Section 124A sedition, 152B, 505 and 34 have been imposed on these people.

According to the information, an FIR has been lodged in the sedition section at Azad Maidan police station against Urvashi Churiwala, who shouted slogans in support of Sharjeel Imam during the last Saturday 'Queer Independence March' at Azad Maidan in Mumbai. Earlier on Monday morning, Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh had told that Urvashi along with some girls had raised anti-national slogans. An FIR has been registered against them. Soon the accused will be arrested.

Deshmukh said, after investigating the video footage, the police has registered a case against Urvashi. BJP leader Kirit Somaiya had filed a complaint in this case. It is also being said that 'Queer Independence March' comes out. This march organized by Humsafar Trust is taken out in August Kranti Maidan, but this time the police had asked to march in Azad Maidan. The police had also instructed not to raise slogans on the issue like CAA and NRC, but during the march shouted slogans in support of Sharjeel.
