Mumbai: The news of the arrest of Vikas Khanchandani, CEO of Republic TV is coming out. The Mumbai Police has arrested him in the recently filed TRP rigging case. Let me tell you that he has been questioned many times in this case. Earlier, senior journalist and editor-in-chief of the channel Arnab Goswami was also arrested by Mumbai Police in an old case. However, he was later granted bail by the court.

Republic TV distribution head Ghanshyam Singh was also arrested earlier in the alleged fake TRP case. The magistrate sent Ghanshyan Singh to judicial custody till 13 November. Before the arrest of Vikas Khanchandani, 12 people have been arrested by the Crime Branch of Mumbai Police. The TRP scam was revealed last month after the Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) filed a complaint through Hansa Research Group alleging that some channels were tampering with TRP figures.

Maharashtra Police had filed a charge sheet against Arnab Goswami in the 2018 abetment to suicide. The charge sheet was filed by a Maharashtra police court in Alibag. In the media report, it was told on behalf of the government lawyer that in addition to Arnab Goswami, the names of Feroz Sheikh and Nitish Sarada are included in the police charge sheet.
