ANKARA: On Tuesday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will meet with delegations from Ukraine and Russia ahead of the start of a fresh round of peace talks between the two warring parties in Istanbul.

"We'll have a quick meeting with the delegates," Erdogan stated after a cabinet meeting at a press briefing. Turkey is "virtually the only country that makes earnest efforts to resolve the ongoing issue between Ukraine and Russia through negotiation."

The two-day in-person talks will take place at the Dolmabahce Presidential Working Office in Istabul's Besiktas district at 10.30 am, (local time, or 1 pm IST). Erdogan also stated that his negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin and his equivalent in Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, are "progressing favourably." "No one will be able to stop Turkey from becoming a bridge of peace, tranquillity, and trust in its area and around the world," Erdogan declared.

"We know that those working to make our country a side of the fight in the Russia-Ukraine situation are watching the peace bridge we've established with a squeezed heart," he added. Erdogan and Putin agreed to arrange the next round of Ukrainian-Russian talks in Istanbul in a phone call on Sunday.
