LONDON: Chris Parry and Andrew Bagshaw, two British volunteer aid workers who were killed during a humanitarian evacuation effort in eastern Ukraine, were reported missing in the war-torn nation, according to Parry's family on Tuesday.

"It is with great sadness that we must announce that our dear Chrissie has been killed along with her colleague Andrew Bagshaw while attempting a humanitarian evacuation from Soledar in eastern Ukraine," her family said.

In a statement released by the British Foreign Office, he continued, "We and his large family are very proud of his selfless determination to help the old, young and disadvantaged out there."

In January, the body of one of the workers who had been reported missing was discovered in eastern Ukraine, the scene of fierce fighting between Ukrainian and Russian forces, according to a statement by Russia's Wagner Group.

According to Ukrainian police, the two traveled from Kramatorsk to Soledar on 6 January and were reported missing the following evening when contact with them was lost.

According to Parry's family, she was drawn to Ukraine during its darkest hour at the start of the Russian invasion in March and aided those who needed it most, saving over 400 lives in addition to many abandoned animals. saved.
