Two TDP MPs meet PM Modi; submit their resignation letter

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Thursday, spoke to Andhra Pradesh chief minister Chandrababu Naidu over granting Special Category Status to Andhra Pradesh. Telegu Desam Party (TDP) yesterday hinted at parting ways from the NDA alliance at the center. There is political tension between the parties over AP SCS issue. Reportedly, PM Modi tried to persuade AP CM for not quitting the government at the center.

The two TDP MP and union minister met the Prime Minister at his residence at on Thursday evening after PM Modi had spoken to Chandrababu Naidu. Union Aviation Minister and TDP MP Ashok Gajapathi Raju along with TDP MP YS Choudhary handed over their resignation letter to the prime minister in the half an hour long meeting.  

Yesterday, two BJP MLAs in the Andhra Pradesh state assembly quit and Chandrababu Naidu threatened that two TDP ministers in the central government resigned from the Modi government.

According to the leaders from TDP, the party had decided to follow a step-by-step process and not pull out support suddenly. Party plans to pull out MPs first and then ministers. If the demands are not met even after this, the party shall completely part ways with the NDA coalition. Naidu instructed the MPs to resign on Wednesday and they did it a day after.
