BANGALORE: United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) chairman Yury Slyusar said the company (UAC) is considering the possibility of localizing and manufacturing the Sukhoi SuperJet in India.

"We are considering about the Sukhoi SuperJet project, the potential for localization and production here (in India), with the supply of our components, to establish a glider production here and to make a fully-fledged Indian aircraft with domestic deliveries to the market and the markets of friendly countries. I think it is interesting for India. Now having a modern civilian aircraft with our help is a step forward,” Slyusar said in a news report.

"A plane carrying 100 people is being requested right now. First off, considering how large the country is, we believe such an aircraft would be useful for domestic travel. Given that India is a close friend of ours, we are prepared to offer all technical and technological help required. We think that this bond extends beyond the military. We want it to develop in the civil field as well.”

He also noted that Russia offered India cooperation on Il-114 aircraft and MS-21 aircraft.

The Sukhoi Superjet 100  is a regional jet designed by Russian aircraft company Sukhoi Civil Aircraft, a division of the United Aircraft Corporation.

On 14 March 2022, EASA revoked the Superjet's airworthiness certificate as part of the EU's sanctions against Russia following the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
