Dubai: In order to advance the common objectives of regional security and stability, the UAE's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) has stated that the nation is committed to peaceful dialogue and diplomatic engagement, according to state news agency WAM on Wednesday.

The ministry announced its withdrawal from the Combined Maritime Forces (CMF) at the same time as the statement.

The statement said: "Two months ago, the UAE withdrew its participation in the Combined Maritime Forces as a result of our ongoing evaluation of effective security cooperation with all partners.

The CMF is a "multinational maritime partnership that exists to uphold the Rules-Based International Order (RBIO) by countering illicit non-state actors on the high seas and promoting security, stability, and prosperity throughout international waters," according to the organization's website.

In accordance with international law, the UAE continued to be committed to responsibly ensuring the safety of navigation in its seas, according to the MoFA statement.

As the UAE's military participated in joint training exercises with the US known as "Iron Union 19," news of its withdrawal broke.

The UAE-based joint exercise included military scenarios designed to improve joint coordination, increase combat readiness, and improve tactical competence
