Pune: The Pune police in Maharashtra have arrested six persons, including Shiv Sena city unit chief Sanjay More, hours after the attack on former minister Uday Samant's vehicle. Apart from Sanjay More, the other suspects include Sambhaji Thorve, the organiser of Shiv Sena leader Aaditya Thackeray's rally in Katraj, party workers Rajesh Palaskar, Chandan Salunkhe, Suraj Lokhande and Rupesh Pawar. All those arrested are loyal to the Uddhav Thackeray camp.
The same Sanjay More reacted to the police action and said, "Aditya Thackeray's public meeting was a huge hit, so the police have taken action against Shiv Sainiks. Samant was attacked just after the end of Aaditya Thackeray's rally. The aggressive Shiv Sainiks closed the road. Samant had left for the house of Tanaji Samant, a loyalist of the Eknath Shinde camp. As soon as his SUV reached the Katraj area of Pune, he was attacked with stones. At the time of the attack, the feudal sat in the front seat. However, the rear glass of Samant's SUV broke completely.
Let me tell you that Samant was a minister in Uddhav Thackeray's government. He was among the 40 MLAs who rebelled in the Shiv Sena in June and joined the Shinde camp. Officials said a case has been registered against 15 persons at Bharati Vidyapeeth police station under Section 307 of the Indian Penal Code and further investigation is on. Initially, Samant lodged a complaint with the Kothrud police station, though the case was transferred to Bharati Vidyapeeth police station.
