Mumbai: Former Maharashtra CM and Shiv Sena leader Uddhav Thackeray on Saturday launched a scathing attack on Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari over his remarks at a function in Mumbai. Thackeray alleged that Koshyari had insulted the Marathi people and that he had made the statement deliberately. Uddhav Thackeray said that the Governor has crossed the line. He should respect the chair on which he is seated. After the kind of statement that the Governor has made, it should be decided whether to send him back from here to jail. Governor Koshyari has to apologise to the Marathi people.
Uddhav said, "I don't want to insult anyone sitting in the post of governor. I respect the chair but Bhagat Singh Koshyari insulted the Marathas and there is anger among the people. Governors are trying to divide society on the basis of religion, crossing every limit.'' Uddhav further said that the Governor is the ambassador of the President, he obeys the President's words all over the country. But if he makes the same mistake, who will take action against him? They have insulted the Marathas and their pride.
In fact, the Governor, while speaking at a function in Mumbai's Andheri on Friday, lauded the Marwari Gujarati community and said that wherever they go, they contribute to the development of the place by building hospitals, schools, etc. He said that if Gujaratis and Rajasthanis are removed from Maharashtra, Maharashtra will not be left with any money and Mumbai will not be called the economic capital of India.
