On Saturday, the University Grants Commission said that both the committees constituted by the Commission have submitted their report. The UGC will issue guidelines to universities and colleges next week about the measures to be taken for the current and next academic session.

It further stated in its statement, "In the wake of COVID-19 epidemic and nationwide lockdown, two committees were formed to look into the teaching procedures, examinations, admissions, academic calendar and other related issues. So that these problems  to be dealt with in future. "

The first committee under the chairmanship of former member UGC professor and Vice Chancellor of Central University of Haryana RC Kuhar was given the responsibility to look into the issues related to the examination and academic calendar. A second committee headed by Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) Vice Chancellor Professor Nageswara Rao was asked to look into the issues related to the promotion of online education. The same statement further said "Both the committees have submitted their report to the UGC on 24 April. These reports will be discussed in the UGC Commission meeting and based on the Commission's decision, the UGC will issue guidelines next week." UGC universities and colleges should not take this direction with regard to the current academic session as well as the measures to be taken for the next academic session in the larger interest of the student community.
