UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak is set to announce a significant boost of £200 million ($252 million) towards the country's nuclear defence and civil nuclear industry. This investment is expected to create around 40,000 new jobs.

The government plans to collaborate with industry giants such as BAE Systems, Rolls-Royce, EDF, and Babcock for this initiative. By 2030, a total investment of at least £763 million will be made towards enhancing skills, job opportunities, and education in this sector.

The primary focus of this investment is to ensure the prosperity of Barrow-in-Furness, a town in northern England known for its role in UK nuclear submarine construction. Prime Minister Sunak emphasizes the importance of safeguarding the nation's nuclear deterrent and promoting cleaner energy solutions.

Sunak asserts, "In today's increasingly uncertain world, maintaining our at-sea nuclear deterrent is crucial. Additionally, nuclear energy offers a cost-effective and environmentally friendly source of power for consumers."

The investment in Barrow and the broader nuclear industry reflects the government's commitment to fostering innovation and securing the future of essential sectors.
