KIEV Ukraine and Russia will restart their peace negotiations in an online format on Friday, according to a member of Kiev's delegation.

During the negotiations, the Ukrainian and Russian teams would work harder to reach an agreement needed for a meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, repors quoted David Arakhamia as saying in a social media post.

"We hope the presidents of the two nations will meet next," Arakhamia said, stressing that the Ukrainian side wants the meeting to take place somewhere other than Russia or Belarus. Dmitry Peskov, a spokesperson for the Kremlin, told Russia's TASS news agency that there is no clear timeline for a meeting between Putin and Zelensky.

"As we stated earlier, a meeting at the highest level should be preceded by the completion of work on the agreement's wording, as well as the approval and initialing of this document by high-ranking officials," he said. On Tuesday, Ukrainian and Russian delegates met in Istanbul, Turkey, for their fifth round of peace negotiations since Moscow declared war on Kiev on February 24.
