Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison has said stated that the situation in Ukraine and its ramifications for the Indo-Pacific will be discussed during his virtual summit with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 21.

Morrison stated that the summit will also explore how to strengthen bilateral trade and investment links and capitalise on new economic possibilities to assist mutual economic recovery and growth. "We will also discuss a number of regional and international concerns, including the situation in Ukraine and its ramifications for the Indo-Pacific, and Myanmar," said Australia's prime minister in a statement.

Morrison stated that Australia and India have a strong bilateral relationship based on mutual understanding and trust, and that both countries share a vision for the Indo-Pacific region. "The strong bilateral relationship between Australia and India is founded on mutual understanding and trust, a commitment to democracy, and a shared vision of an open, inclusive, resilient, and thriving Indo-Pacific," he said.

The meeting on March 21 comes after the historic maiden virtual summit on June 4, 2020, when the India-Australia partnership was elevated to a 'Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.'

"Prime Minister Modi and I will talk about deepening our trade and investment cooperation and seizing new economic possibilities to boost our mutual economic recovery and prosperity," Morrison said.

"At the heart of these efforts are increased cooperation in defence and security, research and technology, vital minerals, and sustainable energy," he stated. The Australian prime minister stated that Modi will be hosted at the virtual annual leaders' conference.
