Union Minister Gadkari laid foundation for 9 NH projects in Tripura

Union Minister for Road Transport, Highways and MSMEs Shri Nitin Gadkari on Tuesday has virtually laid the foundation stones of nine National Highway projects in Tripura. The projects extends for a total length of nearly 262 kms worth over Rs 2752 crore. Tripura is the Gateway of the “Act East Policy” of the Central Government. The Governmnet is expecting a high level of jump in the development of tourism, economic and international connectivity of the region giving impetus to the GDP of the Tripura state.

The new projects will provide better connectivity, fast and safe movement of traffic to various tourist places, historical places and religious places in the entire State generating large number of employment and self-employment opportunities to the unskilled, semi-skilled and skilled manpower of the region. Travel time and the maintenance cost of the vehicles will be reduced and fuel usage also be reduced. This project will improve socio-economic conditions of the locality, improve transport of agricultural goods and access to greater markets.

CM of Tripura extended his thankfulness saying the people of Tripura are indebted to the Centre for having prioritized it for development. About the new roads, he said they are boon to the people for connectivity ion all weather conditions in the state. Chief Minister Shri Biplab Kumar Deb presided the function and Union MoSs Dr Jitendra Singh and Gen (Retd) Dr V K Singh, Ministers from the State, Members of Parliaments, MLAs and senior officers from the Centre and the State were present.
