United Airlines Flight to change route due to dissatisfaction of a Passenger on Board

New Delhi:- A United Airlines flight from Houston to Amsterdam was diverted Sunday to Chicago due to passenger misbehavior, the airline said. "United Flight 20 from George Bush Intercontinental Airport to Amsterdam was diverted to O'Hare International Airport after passenger confusion and landed safely," the airline said in a statement to USA TODAY.

The plane had to circle O'Hare International Airport several times to dump fuel before landing, or it would have been too heavy to land, according to the Guardian.

A recent analysis by the International Air Transport Association found that 2022 will see an increase in the number of misbehaving passenger incidents compared to 2021.

The flight, which had been destined for Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport from Detroit Metro Airport, diverted to Atlanta, was greeted by police at the gate, and flew to its destination with a new crew.

Delta did not provide details of the incident, but said in a statement that it "does not tolerate threats or insults of any kind to the public." The airline added that it has been in contact with flight attendants to provide assistance and is cooperating with the authorities investigation.  

"The safety and health of our customers and crew remains our top priority at Delta," a spokesperson said in a statement.
