WASHINGTON: The historic soft-landing of India's Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft on the moon's South Pole surface was praised by the United States, a nation that had actively supported the mission and closely monitored its advancements. This significant achievement garnered global acclaim.

In a message posted on X (previously Twitter), US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan extended his congratulations to @ISRO and the people of India for the momentous landing of Chandrayaan-3 on the moon's South Pole. He expressed anticipation for the expansion of collaborative efforts between the United States and India in the realm of space exploration in the years to come.

The United States played a pivotal role in supporting this mission, a fact acknowledged by S. Somanath, the Chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), during a press conference. He also recognized the assistance provided by Australia and the United Kingdom.

Bill Nelson, NASA's Administrator, also shared his felicitations on X, applauding @isro for the successful lunar South Pole landing of Chandrayaan-3. He extended his congratulations to #India for becoming the fourth country to accomplish a gentle spacecraft landing on the Moon. He underscored the pleasure of NASA's partnership in this mission.

The trio of countries that have achieved successful soft-landings on the Moon comprises the United States, the former USSR (with Russia's recent attempt ending in failure), and China.
