
The Unnao district jail administration of Uttar Pradesh made a very unique arrangement for the prisoners of its premises, ensuring that they too have the opportunity to take the holy bath with the sangam waters of the Grand Mahakumbh. The event was conducted with a special permission from the Prison minister and the Director General of Prisoners PV Ramasastri.
The holy water of Triveni Sangam was brought by Jail Superintendent Pankaj Kumar Singh and Jailor Arun Kumar Mishra from Prayagraj. It was mixed in the tank water of the prison, with which the jail inmates took bath. The atmosphere turned spiritual as the prisoners began chanting Har Har Mahadev, Har Har Gange and Jai Shree Ram. The prisoners expressed their gratitude towards the administration, thanking them for providing them a moment of their lifetime.

An initiative like this can be a step towards prison reforms, that provides for the mental upliftment of the prisoners. Experiences like this might help in their betterment as humans, with mental peace and a kind of spiritual satisfaction. When the whole world is gathering to participate in the grand event, a section of population might have been left behind, through this initiative Unnao administration ensured that the prisoners in their prisoners somehow have the chance to take the holy bath in the sacred water of Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati.
The Grand Mahakumbh 2025 is being held after a period of 144 years, an auspicious alignment of stars that makes the event holy in every sense. It is believed that even a drop of water from the Triveni Sangam, when mixed in any water source makes it sacred.
The visitors at the Mahakumbh in Prayagraj are not declining, rather a surge is observed as the event is moving towards its culmination. The last snan will take place on the occasion of Mahashivratri on February 26. Special arrangements for crowd management and traffic control are made by the administration for the safety of the visitors. Till now, over 54 crore devotees have taken the holy bath at the Mahakumbh, surpassing over the 45 crore devotees expected. With only a few days left, the largest spiritual gathering will lead to many more records.
