Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh has come first in the country in terms of water resource management. The National Water Awards 2022 honor ceremony was organized in the country's capital Delhi on Tuesday. In this ceremony, President Ram Nath Kovind has honored Uttar Pradesh's Jal Shakti Minister Swatantra Dev Singh for this achievement. After receiving the award, Swatantra Dev gave the credit of the award to CM Yogi Adityanath and said that under his (Yogi's) guidance, together we will make all the departments of UP number 1.
It was told in the award ceremony that the UP government, along with focusing on cleaning the rivers, did a lot of work on flood control. In UP, the work was accelerated by reviving the major irrigation projects which had been dormant for a long time. By doing this, a large population has benefited. Due to the development of irrigated area in Uttar Pradesh, farmers have also got a lot of convenience in irrigating crops. At the same time, Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat has congratulated Swatantra Dev Singh for this honor.
During the award ceremony, President Ram Nath Kovind requested people to join the government's water conservation campaign. Along with this, urged the district administration and sarpanches to motivate people to participate in it. He also started 'Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the Rain Campaign 2022' during this period. This campaign will run till 30 November 2022.
