Lucknow: Today is the last day of the Election Commission's team's UP tour before the proposed assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh. Chief Election Commissioner Sushil Chandra has informed that the term of the Legislative Assembly in Uttar Pradesh is ending on May 14 and voting is to be held in 403 assembly seats of the state. Out of this, 84 seats are reserved for SC and 2 for ST.
The Chief Election Commissioner said that the Election Commission is committed to conduct fair, peaceful and free elections from Corona in the state. The commission says that this time 52.8 lakh new voters have been added in the state and this includes 23.92 lakh male voters and 28.86 lakh female voters. Sushil Chandra said that we have earlier held meetings with political parties and have taken suggestions from them regarding elections. He said that the Election Commission team has interacted with all the agencies and also with all the District Election Officers and MPs during their visit to the state. So that elections can be conducted in the state.
Sushil Chandra said that all the political parties followed the Corona protocol and demanded to hold the elections at the scheduled time. Although some people have expressed concern in view of the crowd gathering in the rallies, while the people of some parties also talked about being under pressure from the administrative people.
