LUCKNOW:  The Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath government in  is setting up 3 all-woman battalions of the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC). This is a component of the 'Mission Shakti' programme of the state government, which aims to empower women.

The new battalions will be named after three notable women warriors from the state, Rani Avantibai Lodhi, Uda Devi, and Jhalkari Bai, who gave their lives in the Indian liberation movement, according to a government official.

The battalions will form at Gorakhpur, Badaun, and Lucknow. "For the first time, all-female PAC battalions are being organised. These are extra battalions in addition to the existing 33. These battalions' land has already been located, and a request for the necessary staff has been made "added the spokesman.

In each of the women battalions, 1,262 positions are now being filled through the recruitment procedure.

One commandant, three deputy commandants, and nine assistant commandants make up the breakdown of the open positions. In addition to these positions, the battalion also needs to fill the positions of 24 inspectors, 108 chief constables, 842 constables, and cooks.

the spokesman said, the government is very much concerned about the status of women in the police which goes a long way in monitoring the crime against women. The Chief Minister has already given instructions to recruit only women on 20 percent of vacant posts in the Home Guards department, which has contributed significantly to keeping up the peace and internal security.
