UP: Police kills man ''Wanted'' in bank robbery case

On Monday, Uttar Pradesh police killed a man accused in a bank robbery case in an encounter after he fled from jail while being taken to his accomplice's residence to retrieve weapons, officials said. Mukesh Thakur, the deceased, was from Baseri which is the Dholpur district of Rajasthan.

According to authorities, while being escorted to the accomplice's house in the morning, he pushed police officers and seized one of their pistols. He fled from the spot and later, was seriously injured in an encounter with police, the officials said, adding that he was taken to the SN Medical College, where he was declared dead by doctors.

The Sadar police arrested Thakur late Sunday night. They stated he was arrested in the theft of a bank in Agra's Iradatnagar, as well as many other crimes in Agra, Bharatpur, and Dholpur. Thakur carried a reward of Rs 50,000. Inspector-General of Police (IG), Agra, Naveen Arora said, "On a tip-off from the SOG and surveillance team of Agra, the accused, identified as Mukesh Thakur from Baseri in Dholpur district of Rajasthan, was arrested around midnight during checking of vehicles by the Agra Sadar Police Station."
