US OPEN: Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer reached pre-quarterfinals

New Delhi: World's best tennis players Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer have reached the pre-quarterfinals of the US Open. He entered the final 16 of the US Open Tennis Grandslam. Kei Nishikori is out. The top-ranked player Djokovic, who has named four of the five Grand Slams, was badly bothered by shoulder pain in the second round but did not have so much trouble in the third round and he defeated the 111th ranked American player Denis Kudla by 3 6-4 6-2.

The 32-year-old Serbian player, who has won sixteen Grand Slams, will now face three-time Grand Slam winner Stan Wawrinka on Sunday. The 23rd seeded Swiss defeated Paolo Lorenzi of Italy 6-4 7-6 7-6. Djokovic, who has won three US Open trophies, has a 19–5 win record against Wawrinka but has not clashed since the 2016 US Open final in which Wawrinka defeated Djokovic.

Five-time champion Roger Federer recorded an easy win over Britain Dan Evans 6-2 6-2 6-1 in just 80 minutes. In the last two matches, they had lost their first set, making the 20-time Grand Slam champion a strong start to the match and collected 48 winners. Federer will now face 15th seed David Goffin of Belgium.
