NEW DELHI: The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has made it possible for citizens to confirm their cellphone numbers and email addresses that have been seeded with their Aadhaar in order to benefit users.
It had come to the notice of the Unique Identification Authority of India that in some cases, residents were not aware or sure about which of their mobile numbers is seeded to their Aadhaar. Therefore, residents were worried that Aadhaar OTP might be going to some other mobile number.
Now, with this facility, the residents can check these quite easily. The service is accessible through the mAadhaar App or the "Verify email/mobile number" section of the official website:- https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/, , IT ministry sources notified.
It was created so that locals could confirm that their personal email or mobile number was seeded with the appropriate Aadhaar.
This feature provids confirmation to residents that email or mobile number under his or her knowledge is only seeded to respective Aadhaar, sources said. The UIDAI notifies the resident in case a particular mobile number is not linked, and informs residents to take necessary steps to update the mobile number, if they wish so.
Residents will get a notification on their screen stating, "The mobile number you have entered is already verified with our records," if the cellphone number has previously been verified.
The final three digits of the mobile number can be checked using the Verify Aadhaar feature on the My Aadhaar webpage or mAadhaar App if a person cannot recall the mobile number they provided during enrollment.
A citizen can go to the nearest Aadhaar centre to link their email or mobile number to Aadhaar or to update their email or mobile number.
