Lucknow: The floods in eastern Uttar Pradesh have taken a formidable form. Due to the Ghaghra river being in spate in Azamgarh of the state, the condition of the dam in Mahla has worsened. Water has also started entering the villages falling under the bordering Mau district. The movement of heavy vehicles has been banned on the Allahabad-Gorakhpur route.
As soon as the information was received, District Magistrate Arun Kumar immediately reached the spot. They are taking stock of the flood situation with higher officials. There is an atmosphere of panic on the spot due to the breach of the dam. It is being told that the Ghaghra river has reached the danger point from 69.90 meters to 71.50 meters. Water is rapidly entering the border areas of the region.
Ghaghra's water level broke a record of 24 years:
According to the report, the rising water level of the Ghaghra river has broken the record of 24 years. The water level of the river was the highest at 72.98 meters in 1998 on the Badarhua regulator. The Ghagra river was flowing at 73.30 meters on Thursday. The water of the river started overflowing on the dam near Chitaini in Mahula. People were busy tying it. Due to this, the dam started leaking at many places in the area. About 70 villages have been engulfed by the flood waters. 460 boats have been set up for the movement of the people of the area. Leaving the house, people are reaching a safe place. The water level of the Ghaghra river is increasing by breaking records. Due to which the problem of the people of Devara area is increasing. The people of the village surrounded by water are packing their belongings and reaching safer places.
