Lucknow: UP's Yogi Adityanath government has clampdown on don MLA Mukhtar Ansari imprisoned in Punjab jail. The passports of Mukhtar, his wife Afsa Ansari and both sons have been seized. All passports have been deposited with the police. Mukhtar is currently lodged in Ropar Jail in Punjab, which is in the process of being brought to UP.

Mukhtar Ansari is imprisoned in Ropar Jail in Punjab. The UP government wants to bring him to UP, but the Punjab government has refused to send Mukhtar Ansari to UP. For this, Punjab has cited the alleged poor health of Mukhtar Ansari. After this, the matter has reached the top court. A hearing was held on this issue on Monday. Mukhtar Ansari has opposed the transfer of UP by filing an affidavit in the apex court. Mukhtar Ansari has said that he is part of a family that has made a big contribution in the freedom struggle, along with Hamid Ansari who has been the Vice President of the country.

Mukhtar Ansari has said in his affidavit that he himself has been an MLA from Mau in Uttar Pradesh five times. Mukhtar Ansari has said that he has been the grandson of Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed Ansari, who was a freedom fighter and also the president of the Congress from 1927-28. Apart from this, he was also the founder of Jamia Millia Islamia University.
