Police stop marriage of Hindu girl and Muslim youth, says, 'First get permission from DM'

Lucknow: After the Uttar Pradesh Conversion Act was enacted, the Lucknow Police has stopped an inter-religious marriage between two families with mutual consent. Last Wednesday evening, by mutual consent, a Hindu girl was getting married to a Muslim youth, who, upon getting the information, reached the spot and stopped the wedding. Police have asked both the parties to get permission from the DM for this marriage first, citing new conversion laws.

This case has come out from Para station area of Lucknow. In which a Hindu girl was married to a Muslim boy without conversion. According to the information, some Hindu organizations had reported this marriage to the police. After which the police has taken this step. According to the family of the boy, both families were getting married by mutual consent. According to the citation of the Unlawful Religion Act in UP, the police has asked the District Magistrate to seek permission for conversion. The young man's brother Asif said that both the families agreed to this relationship, but the new house was not known about the new law, so now permission has been sought from the District Magistrate's Office under the new provisions for this marriage.

While giving information, ADCP SP Rawat said that the incident is from the Para police station area, some organizations protested during the marriage of Muslim youth and Hindu girl, and said to get married according to the new law. This marriage is not yet done.
