Lucknow: Anti-social elements vandalised a Shiva temple in Behlolpur village of Noida on Sunday night as well as vandalised the Shivalinga and the idols kept in the temple. Along with this, there were also traces of blood on the floor of the temple. On Monday morning, when the villagers reached the temple, they saw the inside view and the fire broke out. After this, a large number of villagers gathered at the spot and created a ruckus. On Monday afternoon, the police bulldozed and demolished mutton shops located in Behlolpur after it came to light that meat was being dumped inside the temple.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central Noida) Harish Chander, while giving details of the case, said that the local police had received information about vandalism of a Shiva temple in Bahlolpur village. He said a police team along with forensic experts and dog squad immediately reached the spot where a statue was found in a damaged condition. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone II) Ila Maran said bloodstains were also found on the spot, which prima facie looked like human blood. Obviously, the person who broke the glass to remove the statue kept in the glass cover must have been hurt and his blood would have fallen.

DCP Chander said the police were investigating the case from every angle and denied that a piece of meat was also lying inside the temple premises. He said the police have also contacted the priest of the temple, who had gone to his house in the night and saw the view inside when he came to the temple in the morning. The DCP said that the fact that the temple priest was held hostage during the incident was also wrong. He said the law and order situation in the village is under control and an FIR is being registered in the matter and further investigation is being conducted.
