Lucknow: Police is seen taking to the streets to check rumours of child theft  In Uttar Pradesh. Police on Thursday urged people from cities to rural areas not to heed rumours. In cities like Sultanpur, Ghaziabad, Barabanki, including Lucknow, the capital of UP, the police appeared to be asking people to ignore rumours of child theft and not taking the law into their hands.

UP ADG PV Rama Shastri has issued directions in the matter and asked all the district captains of the state to remain vigilant. The directive directs strict action against those who spread rumours and disrupt law and order. He has reported that 48 cases have been registered in the State in a month so far.

He said, a total of 104 persons have so far been detained in Meerut, Agra, Kanpur, Jaunpur, Eta, Bulandshahar Sambal for violence and mob lynching. One person has died due to rumours all over the state and 30 people have been injured. The Yogi administration has now taken a tough stand on the rising incidents of mob lynching in UP.
