Lucknow: Students from government primary schools in Uttar Pradesh will now begin their day with yoga. State Basic Education Minister Satish Dwivedi has issued instructions to the authorities to include Yoga with immediate effect in the daily activities of the school. The minister has asked officials to ensure that 1.5 million students in all government primary schools in the state attend a 15-minute yoga session during the morning meeting at the school.

In addition, students will also have to attend a 15-minute PT class before going home from school. Following a controversy over the recent salt-bread served to students at mid-day meal in Mirzapur, Dwivedi has issued instructions to the authorities to review the distribution of Mid Day Meals, books, socks and shoes, school bags and uniforms by forming flyers in all segments.

He has also put before the administration a demand for an action plan by 2022 and a third party social audit in primary and upper primary schools. Meanwhile, another video has also surfaced in which children under Mid Day Meal at a government school are being served food on banana leaves. While the investigation revealed that the video revealed that the two children eating food are a Muslim and a Hindu, the children had forgotten to bring their plates and they themselves had to eat on banana leaves.
