Lucknow: In the industrial establishments of Uttar Pradesh, now the factory owners are going to have a heavy footing to make children work. To stop child labour, the state government is going to make the provision of fines more strict. Now if caught in the case of child labour, the appointee can be jailed for one year. It is proposed to recover a fine of up to Rs 60,000 from him.

The draft of changes in the State Manual of Child Labor Act is ready. It has been approved by the state-level committee. Now after the approval of the cabinet, the new rules will be implemented in the state. In fact, there is still a provision of punishment and fine for making children labour in factories and factories. But now it is being amended. Till now, there is a provision to levy a fine ranging from five thousand to 20 thousand rupees if the case of child labour is caught. Along with this, there is a provision of jail for one to three months.

Now discussions are going on to increase the fine from a minimum of 20 thousand to a maximum of 60 thousand. The punishment can also be extended from three months to one year. The motive behind increasing the punishment and fine is to curb child labour. The state government will now connect such child labour families with various schemes. For this also an action plan will be prepared in coordination with various departments. Under the new system, the employer will not be punished for admitting a mistake in the first instance after a case of child labour is caught. The matter will be compounded by simply collecting the fine. But, the next time you are caught, there will be strictness. There will be a provision for direct punishment.
