Lucknow: After the death of eight policemen in an encounter with history-sheeter Vikas Dubey and his operatives and the subsequent killing of a gangster in the encounter, the Uttar Pradesh government has transferred senior superintendent of police Dinesh Kumar P to Kanpur. The Yogi government of the state on Saturday evening transferred 15 IPS officers. Including Dinesh Kumar P, Senior Superintendent of Police, Kanpur, has been appointed as Senior Superintendent of Police of Jhansi.

On giving information in a statement on Saturday evening, Additional Chief Secretary Home Avnish Awasthi has told that Dr. Pritinder Singh, posted as Deputy Inspector General of Police in Aligarh, has been appointed Deputy Inspector General of Police / Senior Superintendent of Police, Kanpur. Eight policemen were martyred in an encounter between Bikaner of Chaubepur in Kanpur on the night between July 2-3. After that, gangster Vikas Dubey was killed in an encounter by the police in Kanpur on 10 July.

After this incident, on July 7, SSP Dinesh Kumar P had removed all 68 policemen from Chaubepur. Of these, 45 constables and 10 head constables were sent to the police line. Along with this, 95 policemen from four different police stations were under investigation with gangster Vikas Dubey for their links, while three sub-inspectors and one constable are under suspension. At present, the case is under judicial investigation and SIT investigation.
