Dehradun: The damage caused by the flood tragedy of Uttarakhand has not been recovered yet. After the deluge, the main tunnel was filled with debris and then all these working laborers got stuck there, still stuck there. In order to remove them safely, rescue teams have been unified day and night since Sunday to remove debris from the tunnel. Since Sunday, many workers have been stranded in the tunnel, which is no less than a major problem. Rescue is still underway to evacuate 34 personnel trapped in the tunnel of Tapovan Vishnugad Hydropower Project here.

It has been learned that an army of more than 1000 personnel from 10 agencies including ITBP, SDRF, NDRF is present outside the tunnel, but the situation remains such that the removal of debris from a small single machine on the single track of the tunnel helplessness. Removal of debris is the only way to reach the trapped personnel and workers in the Silt Flushing Tunnel of the main tunnel. The SFT is approximately 250 meters long. On Sunday, a project manager, two civil engineers, and 31 workers went there Sunday morning to work in the under-construction SFT from T-Point, 180 meters from the main gate of the tunnel.

According to the information received, so far, debris up to 150 meters from the main tunnel is being removed. A single track cannot move a large machine inside the tunnel while machines are available. The task of removing debris is extremely difficult because there is marsh, water, and darkness inside the tunnel. The main tunnel from where the T-point for SFT is at a slight elevation. The machine will have to be made 400 meters to reach the place from which to drill. Apart from this, the option to reach the personnel and workers trapped in the SFT by constructing a parallel tunnel is also being considered, but it may take a long time.

Here are the main problems:

-Singletrack for rescue within the main tunnel

-Difficult to carry large machine within six and a half meter diameter tunnel

-The challenge of maintaining oxygen labels within the tunnel

-There is also a wire mesh in the tunnel, which has to be cut repeatedly by the cutter

-Manuel removal is also challenging due to heavy debris

-Extremely difficult to enter the tunnel from the other side
