Joshimath: The destruction of the glacier in the Rishiganga Project in Reni, Joshimath, Uttarakhand is a devastating disaster. Tapovan has a power project flowing. It is being told that many people have been swept away. The administration has reached the occasion. Relief and rescue work is in progress. The water level in the Dhauliganga River has risen after a sudden avalanche near a power project at Reni village in the Tapovan area of Chamoli city.


The Collector of Chamoli has directed the officers to take out the people living in the villages situated on the banks of the Dhauliganga river. The Collector and Superintendent of Police have left for the spot. Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Trivendra Singh Rawat said, a disaster has been received from Chamoli city. District administration, police, and disaster management departments have been directed to get rid of the situation. Ignore any kind of rumors. The government is taking all necessary steps.

The ITBP also issued a statement saying that the highest flooding was witnessed in Dhauliganga near Reni village, where some water bodies were flooded due to cloudburst or reservoir rupture, and many riverbank houses were destroyed. The casualty figures are likely to increase. Hundreds of ITBP personnel have reached for rescue. Also, the investigation is being done continuously.
