Torrential rain created stir in Uttarakhand, JCB fell in the river, many roads were blocked

Dehradun: Heavy rain lashed several plains and hilly areas including Uttarakhand's capital Dehradun on Thursday night. This led to waterlogging in Dehradun and debris on Raipur-Thano road. A car was washed away in the canal of Banjarawala Chanchal Muslim Basti late in the night. The late-night rain in Mussoorie, the queen of the mountains, stopped on Friday morning. The weather is clear in Haridwar at present.

Rudraprayag city also received heavy rain overnight. The lives of the people in the villages of many towns have been severely affected here. Rishikesh-Badrinath National Highway has come to a halt due to debris coming to a halt in Sirohbagad. The JCB fell into the river and several vehicles including the truck were trapped in the debris. The Rudraprayag-Gaurikund highway is also blocked due to debris in Medanpur. Traffic on the Kund-Ukhimath-Chopta-Mandal-Chamoli highway is stable.

All tehsil areas of Uttarkashi district remained cloudy. Yamunotri National Highways are stable for traffic. The Gangotri Highway has been blocked due to a landslide near Chinyalisaur Nagud. JCB is deployed at the said places, the opening of the road will be taken up only when landslides stop. New Tehri received heavy rain throughout the night. 13 rural connectivity motorways in the district are being disrupted for traffic. In Srinagar, light sunshine came out on Friday morning after overnight rain. Badrinath Highway is closed at Chamdhar, Lambgarh, and Pagalnala.
