Dehradun: A three-day tribal festival is underway in Dehradun on the occasion of the birthday of tribal freedom fighter Birsa Munda and Uttarakhand Pradesh foundation day. Union Tribal Welfare Minister Arjun Munda and CM Pushkar Singh Dhami started the festival on Thursday. This attracted CM Dhami so much that he could not stop himself from trembling.

The same CM danced with the cast. The hall erupted in applause. On the occasion of the festival, the Union Tribal Minister announced the opening of two new Eklavya Vidyalayas for tribal community, students in Chamoli and Pithoragarh border districts of Uttarakhand and providing tablets from the Centre to about 5,000 students studying in tribal schools following the cm's request. In addition, the Union Minister asked for an early proposal for setting up of a Freedom Struggle Fighter Museum in the state.

The festival was formally inaugurated at ONGC Ambedkar Maidan on Thursday. The festival will continue till November 13. The festival is also being attended by tribal communities from other states, including 5 tribes of Uttarakhand (Jaunsari, Bhotia, Buxa, Tharu and Raji). Inaugurating the festival, the CM said that 5 tribal communities of Uttarakhand play an important role in the development of Uttarakhand. Whether it is preserving culture and tradition or learning, knowledge of living with nature, tribal communities in all areas set examples.
