In a tweet, Varun Gandhi shared a picture of the conversation and wrote, "Issues like rising cost of crops, non-receipt of fair price or MSP, back-breaking inflation in the country were discussed among farmers on the border between Lakhimpur and Pilibhit. In order to understand the suffering of the people, it is more important to listen to them than to speak. For the past few days, Varun Gandhi has been consistently supporting the demands of the farmers.
Earlier on October 29, he had visited a mandi and took stock of the situation. He had told the mandi employees that in 17 districts including Pilibhit, the farmer was setting his paddy crop on fire on his own. It is a great shame for the entire State. He had said that ''if there is any corruption against the farmers, I will not join hands and feet before the Government, go straight to the court and arrest all the culprits.''
