Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, hoisted the National Flag at his official residence in Tadepalli on Monday to commemorate the state's formation.

The Chief Minister was greeted by a police guard of honour and the Tricolor was unfurled. He also decorated the statues of Telugu Talli and Potti Sriramulu with flowers. "The sacrifices made by Sri Potti Sriramulu garu and other freedom fighters led to the formation of the state and continue to inspire us. With firm resolve, dedication, and sincerity, we must lead the State toward welfare and development "According to the Chief Minister.Governor Biswa Bhusan Harichandan paid tribute to Potti Sriramulu, who gave his life in 1953 for the formation of Andhra Pradesh, the first Telugu state.

Andhra Pradesh was formed when Telangana was merged with Andhra Pradesh on November 1, 1956. Until 2014, when Telangana was created as a separate state, undivided Andhra Pradesh continued to celebrate Formation Day on November 1.

N. Chandrababu Naidu, after becoming the first Chief Minister of a truncated Andhra Pradesh, chose June 2 to commemorate the state's formation. The Jagan Mohan Reddy-led YSRCP government, which came to power in 2019, reverted to the November 1 date for Foundation Day celebrations.
